NFL AFC South Breakdown

Football season is just right around the corner and we at SportsFansSpeak are excited for that first kickoff on September 4th. We want to continue our breakdown of each division in the NFL with the AFC South. Really the AFC South has to be one of the weakest divisions in the NFL, last season the Texans, Titans, and Jaguars struggled. Anything can happen in the NFL and one of these teams can bounce back from a poor year and surprise everyone in the league, but who will it be? We are going to tell you who we think will be the surprise team from the AFC South.

As always at SportsFansSpeak this is all about the fans, we want to know what you think. Who do you think will win the AFC South and will this division get any better overall? Agree, disagree, we want to hear YOUR voice. There are so many great fans out there that know the players and teams, it's time to speak up and BE HEARD!

Houston Texans: The Houston Texans are going to have to rely heavily on their defense this season and I don't believe it will disappoint. With J.J. Watt and Brian Cushing leading the way I have them as a top 5 defense in this league IF they can stay healthy. Last season their secondary ranked 3rd in passing yards allowed and I expect them to keep that up. After missing half the season last year I expect Arian Foster to bounce back and have a great year, he will be expected to carry a lot of the load as neither Ryan Fitzpatrick nor Case Keenum are starting quarterback material. I expect this team to improve off of a terrible 2-14 2013 season but they will probably win just a couple of games more. I predict they will go 4-12.

Indianapolis Colts: These Colts are my favorites to win the AFC South. The only competition they same to have in the division are the Tennessee Titans. With Andrew Luck at the helm you can expect this team to excel, last season he threw for 3822 yards and that's with Reggie Wayne only playing 7 games. In just 7 games Reggie Wayne and Andrew Luck connected for 503 yards, imagine what that duo can do when they have a whole season together. I feel confident saying Trent Richardson will have a better season than last year as he gets more comfortable in this Colts offense. Their defense was just average last year and I expect them to struggle again as they lost their leader from last season, Antoine Bethea, to the 49ers. I believe they will go 11-5, winning at least one playoff game this season.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Where to start with this Jacksonville Jaguars squad. Probably one of the only upsides for the Jaguars' fans is the youth of this team. With Blake Bortles, Marqise Lee, and Allen Robinson there is hope for the future but it will take a few more season and some more players needed to be added to this squad, especially to their front seven. I don't expect the Jaguars to get much better this season with such a young team they will be learning how to adapt to the NFL style of football. I see the Jaguars going 4-12.

Tennessee Titans: This Tennessee Titans team are one of picks to make it into the playoffs as a wild card team, those dreams however rest on Jake Locker. I really like Locker and I think his game is great, unfortunately his body doesn't seem to agree with the NFL, Locker has yet to complete a full season as a starting quarterback. There are a lot of talented backs, receivers, and tight ends surrounding Locker and if he can stay healthy I believe they will barely squeeze into the playoffs. This defense will have it's hands full but I believe they will be a little better than average this season. Expect them to go 9-7 and make it into the playoffs with a wild card spot.
